On the Camino!
Walked 20km from the city of Burgos to he very small town of Hornillas del Camino. It's Holy Week which is a huge weeklong holiday here so there are LOTS of Spaniards and their families out walking during this vacation time.
I walked alone much of the day through lush green plains that look a lot like Minnesota. It was mostly flat and treeless. The weather was spectacular- sunny, light breeze, not too hot.
It's spring with lilacs, dandelions, little daisies, apple trees all on bloom.
The atmosphere is very social and international - with people sitting together and striking up conversations. I'm grateful to be able to speak Spanish so that my social circle is much larger and I can read all the educational plaques along the way.
Today I talked with people from Korea, Vienna, Madrid, Pittsburg, Belgium, Australia and the Basque Region.
Starting out in Burgos with cathedral behind me
Typical town- I walked through three towns like this today..
The Camino with some rock piles. Big pile comes from farmers clearing fields . Little poles built by pilgrims
